In May of 2016, I traveled to France to paint with Marie Gabrielle in her home area around the Luberon Valley and Hill Villages of Provence. Every day we traveled  to a new village, each with unique architecture and old world flavor. We were served delicious food by our hosts at Arts In Provence. I focused on my painting, without the usual duties of attending to a home and family.

My sojourn took place during the red poppy bloom (the Flanders Field Poppies) which carpeted the meadows around St Saturnin.

The markets offered homemade crafts from the area as well as olives and cheeses. It was a delight to meet other like-minded painters and share the experience with them. Although I am still full of new ideas for new paintings to make here in the studio, these are some of my favorite memories from the trip.
