Saturday and Sunday, October 12-13, 19-20, 11am-5pm.
As I write this, I am preparing my studio walls with paintings for display in our county's Open Studio Tour. I will have many of my paintings which I created in the past year. You will also be able to see my working studio, including my easels, color palettes, collections of brushes and all the other tools of the trade for any artist like myself. We will get to discuss my process of creating a painting in my studio, versus the process of creating my plein air paintings, which are done on locations out in the natural world.
I always look forward to your stories as well. Many of my studio visitors share with me about paintings done by family members or themselves, and about paintings collected by parents and grandparents which have been handed down to them or to their siblings.
This year I will be open two weekends, October 12-13 and October 19-20. You can find a map to my studio on this page below. Enjoy the short two mile drive from Highway 1, following the big green signs for my studio - number 229 will be on my signs.
When you visit the studio this year, you will see paintings which I consider among the best of my efforts this year. These will include samplings from the paintings created for the "Our Bounty" exhibition, paintings created on my annual artist retreat to the Big Sur area, and paintings created while traveling. And of course, some paintings, both large and small, in which I'm seeking to show off California's beautiful central coast landscapes - from San Fransisco in the north and down south to and beyond the Big Sur.
Come by my Soquel studio to see my new paintings, and have a fun day!
