“Autumn brought out the gold color of the vines. The vines and some hillside bushes were backlit. The distant hills were shrouded by the morning mist. I enjoyed the quiet, painting alone during the pandemic.
This painting was accepted by the juror for the Monterey Plein Air Painters’ 2021 Signature Exhibition, in the Pacific Grove Art Center. I’ve painted with these artists many times over the years and am myself a Signature Member.” – mh

“This painting represents a small study with the compositional design of radiating lines. The olive trees with their blue green leaves contained the vineyard. The farm house creates a distant focal point as the radiating vines lead you into the painting. I enjoyed the day with painting friends, as I worked on this piece in a vineyard in Correlitos, CA. Autumn color abounded on the pinot vines and their oranges complement the blue sky. Back in the studio, I used this painting as a guide to create a larger painting.” – mh

“In the fall, the grape vines turn shades of ochre and gold. This oil painting of a vineyard scene represents the compositional style of radiating lines with the farm home as a focal point in the distance. The vineyard was bordered by olive trees, which provided a contrast in color to the vines. It is a pleasure and a bit of an honor to be invited to new properties to paint.” – mh
