Capistrano Mission 22×26

Unframed size: 22″ x 26″; framed size 28″ x 32″

About an hour north of San Diego, CA in the small town of San Juan Capistrano, is situated the seventh of nine missions founded by Saint Junipero Serra, in 1776. This mission is known for its home to the famous swallows, or golandrinas, that live in the rafters, and return each March from their winter home in Argentina. The flower gardens are exquisitely tended and can provide a show of roses and other blooms throughout the year. In this painting, I wanted to capture the old world feel of the Bell Wall and Companario, a small portion of the Mission grounds.” – mh
