Forbidden Beach 18×24

Unframed size 18″x24″; framed 24″x30″

“On my way to visit Local Color in Big Sur and replace paintings that have sold from there, Rich and I often plan a hike somewhere along the coast. On one of our visits, we hiked out to the beaches at Andrew Molera State Park. We took the high trail, a new one for us. Part way along stood an old log cabin amongst tall eucalyptus trees.” – mh [continued in Description below]

“After about a mile, we climbed to a vantage point above the sea. Further along the coast, and looking North, was a quiet stretch of beach. In the foreground were many colors of wild flowers, including the wild golden achillias which so complement the blues in the sea. The sky was clear, so the ocean had patches of turquoise which so describe this part of the California Coast. The light sand makes for clear water near the shore. This beach is fenced off so getting close was not an option. I took several photos that I later used as references for this painting.” – mh
