Description
“Hidden in the Santa Lucia Mountains, a bit coastwise from Jolon, resides one of the lesser known California Missions – Mission San Antonio de Padua. On a bluff nearby was built The Hacienda, designed by Julia Morgan for Randolph Hearst as a hunting lodge. The Hacienda was donated as a gift to the government and is now on the grounds of Fort Hunter Liggett. I’ve twice made painting trips there, staying at the Hacienda, which requires advanced planning and proper documentation to enter the Fort.” – mh
