“This plein air painting was created during a trip to Big Sur during an art contest. The view of the Little Sur River from this vantage point is unequalled! The river made a pleasing S curve as it made its way to the sea. I parked on the side of Highway 1. However, I felt quite vulnerable to the large semi trucks that travel the coast route. As they turn up the hill, for a few seconds, they were pointed right at me! Very unsettling, so I did not complete it at the time. Now it is done.” – mh

Description

This 12″ x 16″ original oil painting was painted by Michele Hausman. Painting support is a New Traditions canvas panel. The painting was begun plein air during Michele’s participation in the Carmel Art Festival; the panel shows the stamp from that juried contest, in which all panels are pre-stamped. This painting was not completed at the time, as Michele submitted other completed paintings. This artwork was finished some years later in her studio.
