“The Open space at the Fort Ord National Preserve, near Carmel and Monterey, is a frequent painting location for me. Many old sycamores inhabit the park with their attractive shapes and splotched bark. I found the quail added to the picture to balance the composition and add more life to the painting. As I painted, they moved about, but I captured the idea quickly.” – mh
